A First After 30 Years: Direct Flights from Europe to Baghdad Have Started

A Greek airline has operated the first direct flight from Europe to Baghdad after 30 years.

Flights Will Be Operated Twice a Week
According to the statement made by the Iraqi Airports Directorate, the aircraft departing from Athens landed at Baghdad International Airport today. An official welcoming ceremony was held at Baghdad International Airport with the participation of the Greek Ambassador and Civil Aviation officials.
In the first stage, flights are planned to operate twice a week, on Saturdays and Tuesdays. In the coming period, it is stated that the frequency may be increased to daily flights depending on demand.

The Iraqi Ministry of Transport states that significant improvements have recently been made in airport services. It is reported that international institutions such as the Greek Civil Aviation Authority observed important developments during their inspections in Baghdad, and that these infrastructure improvements at the airport played an effective role in the launch of these flights.
